" ' When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,' said Piglet at last, 'what's the first thing you say to yourself?'
'What's for breakfast?' said Pooh.  'What do you say, Piglet?'
'I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?' said Piglet.
Pooh nodded thoughtfully. 'It's the same thing,' he said. "

Here at The Downs we truly believe breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  Kate has been cooking breakfasts for friends and guests for over 30 years, all over the world, and is up bright and early every morning preparing breakfast for you.

With an emphasis on quality, we try to source local produce wherever possible, for example our hand-made Regency sausage come from Newton Abbot and won a Gold in the South West Food Awards in 2012, and our free range eggs are locally sourced too.

We make home-made Marmalade and cook all our own locally sourced meats.

There is no shortage of choice for Vegetarians at The Downs, with 7 items available to make up the Full English, in addition to other items on the hot menu.  This in addition to fresh fruit, pastries, pancakes, cereals and yoghurts.

If you have any other dietry requirements do not hesitate to contact Kate and she will be only too happy discuss your needs as we regularly cater for vegetarians, vegans, and coeliacs.

When on holiday we think breakfast should be exciting and something to look forward to.

We do hope all our guests enjoy breakfast with us, and if there is anything in particular you would like that we don't currently offer then please just let us know and we shall see what we can do !
