If it's boating you want then you can launch your own boat from Torquay or Paignton harbour alternatively if you want someone else to do the hard work, charters are available from Torquay and Brixham harbour.

For something a little more leisurely there are sightseeing excursions from Torquay,Paignton and Brixham which go as far south as Dartmouth or north towards Exmouth.

For a shorter voyage there are the port ferries which hop between Torquay Brixham and Dartmouth and along with the stunning scenery are, we feel, the most convenient way to get to these destinations. Once in Dartmouth you can continue upriver on the paddle steamer past the famous Greenway Mansion, home of Agatha Christie, and on to the unique town of Totnes.

For those of you wanting to learn to sail, courses are available so why not consider sailing weekends

If you want something a bit more hardcore or if you want to get up close and personal with the geopark then there is the option of coasteering or kayaking your way around the bay. The best way to do this is with a guided tour and is suitable for everyone aged 8 and upwards. We would recommend our partners Reach Outdoors for this as they are regularly voted number 1 in their field on Tripadvisor. www.reach-outdoors.com.

The water of Babbacombe Bay is particularly sheltered with the calmest and warmest water on the English Riviera and is excellent for snorkelling and scuba diving. There are pedaloes, kayaks and paddle boards all for hire from Oddicombe beach or its safe for your own dinghy as long as all the usual water safety procedures are followed.
