Around and about the Area The Downs is ideally situated in the centre of Babbacombe Downs, with unrivalled views across Lyme Bay all the way to Portland Bill. The Bay is a Divers Paradise with cuttle fish and wrecks Torbay and its environs also offers a rich diversity of places to eat out, whilst watching the sun set over the harbour. There are also theme bars and Nightclubs to suit all tastes. The following attractions are within easy walking distance
Plenty of opportunities, both sea and freshwater in nearby Stoke Gabriel, Totnes and up river in the Dart on Dartmoor. Swimming and Beaches Babbacombe Indoor swimming pool is a short walk away, there is also an indoor pool at the Riviera Centre in Torquay. The many nearby beaches of Babbacombe, Oddicombe, Torquay, Paignton and Goodrington Sands are excellent for family fun and safe swimming. Also visit Ansteys Cove and Long Quary point Oddicombe Beach has small pedaloes, canoes and banana boat rides as well as cafe, bar, beach shop and trampolines. Exploring and Adventure Try wandering around Torquay harboursides, Torre Abbey, the Agatha Christie mile, the shops of Torquay's Fleet Walk shopping precinct, the Pavilion, the Riviera Centre and much much more. Walking There are miles of walks including the South West Coast Path, Cockington Country Park, Dartmoor National Park and numerous country, river and town walks. The South West Coast Path passes our front door with many miles of lovely coastline to explore, with popular and secluded beaches and The Coast Path along Bishops Walk. Going further afield You can ramble across the wilds of Dartmoor National Park, see the Dartmoor Ponies, visit places of interest such as Hay tor and Widdecombe in the Moor. Fellow Bikers Ed currently rides a Triumph Sprint ST (was going to get a new one, but Kate decided to buy a hotel instead!). We offer off street parking including CCTV coverage also a secure drying/storage area in room 1 for your bike gear and helmets.
